MKI Tone Bender
A recreation of the 1965 Sola Sound Tone Bender MKI - the first iteration of the Tone Bender family and a refinement of the earlier FZ-1 fuzz circuit. The MKI is known for its pleasantly raw and aggressive voicing that harkens back to early Zeppelin tones. Despite being one of the higher gain fuzzes of the era the MKI retains a distinctly vintage feel.
This version features new old stock molded TRW caps, carbon composition resistors, and a combination of vintage Mullard and New Market NKT germanium transistors. The controls are fairly simple but interactive with different amp and pickup combinations. Controls include a standard output volume and attack knob that modifies the bias of the second transistor stage. The attack knob allows the user to modulate the character and sustain of the fuzz.
